Museum of Appalachia Food Drive In the spirit of “neighbor helping neighbor,” visitors to the Museum of Appalachia may bring a non-perishable food item for the needy in February and receive $3 off regular adult admission. Donated food will go to the Norris Area Food Pantry serving eastern Anderson County. In the past five years, Museum visitors have contributed more than 5,000 pounds of food to the local food bank.
The Museum is a non-profit organization. Its mission is to preserve the artifacts and culture of an earlier time, and to instill in the community—regionally, nationally, and internationally—a greater knowledge of and appreciation for the Appalachian heritage. |

Merle Haggard The word “legend” usually makes an appearance at some point when discussing Merle Haggard. It’s an acknowledgment of his artistry and his standing as “the poet of the common man.” It’s a tribute to his incredible commercial success and to the lasting mark he has made, not just on country music, but on American music as a whole. This member of the Country Music Hall of Fame has given us such classics as "Okie From Muskogee", "Mama Tried", "Workin' Man Blues" and "The Fightin' Side of Me". |
